Rooted in Love: Remembering Lexi, Celebrating Zoe

This layout is very close to my heart. It features a photo of sweet Zoe sitting beside the tree we planted in memory of our beloved Lexi. Watching this tree grow over time feels like a living tribute—full of love, memories, and connection.

I chose warm, earthy tones and a cozy plaid pattern to reflect the feeling of comfort and remembrance. The layers and soft textures help ground the design, much like the roots of the tree itself.

The hidden journaling is tucked into the pocket. It holds personal thoughts and memories. I love how hidden journaling allows us to include deeper emotions without overwhelming the visual design.

The title, “Lexi’s Tree” says it simply, but holds so much meaning. This page is a reminder that love never really leaves us—it just grows in new ways.

Phew, I almost didn't get this little card done! I started it yesterday morning and colored her and added glossy accents and glitter.

Left her to dry...

...

AND ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE!!!

The old lady next door backed her car into our house! She smashed out the basement window. I ran outside to see if she was OK.She said "Yes, get someone to fix the window and I'll pay for it!" I was like, "What????" She smashes out our window and doesn't even get out to see what she did and see if she hurt anyone!

She puts the car in Drive and pulls out, puts it in Reverse and backs into her driveway CORRECTLY this time and walks into her house!!

"LIKE WHAT?".

In the meantime my husband had called 911, and got police, ambulance and firetruck on the way. We didn't know what may have happened to her, that's why we called 911. We actually cared if she was OK, she didn't really care too much about us! But we didn't know if she was in shock and wanted to make sure she was fine. When they arrived she was actually pissed that we had called them! We can hear her yelling to them from inside our house (we can hear every conversation she has outside, actually, she's that loud!)

We gave our statement to the Police and then tried to contact the homeowner, as we are renting. The old lady didn't even want us to call her insurance company!!! She said she would pay for the window herself. But she had NO idea what other damage she did to the house. The window ledge has to be replaced, some of the siding outside and a lot of the flooring has to be replaced as it's scratched up from the big chunks of glass hitting it. None of our belonging were damaged, thankfully.

Of course we've gone through all of the what-ifs today and the biggest issue with all of this was the old lady DIDN'T even get out to look at what she did or to see if we were OK...OR TO APOLOGIZE!!!!!

She basically ran away and has been hiding in her house, only coming out a couple of times to smoke.

Oh, and that was the reason I didn't finish my card yesterday :)

I Miss My Dad

It was 14 years ago around this time of day that my dad left to drive home on a very rainy day. He was alone and he hydroplaned, flipped over in his van and went unconscious. There was so much water in the ditch on the side of the road that it came into his van and drowned him. When I got the call from my sister that he had died I went into shock.That is a day I'll NEVER forget, never!

A day or so after he died I sat down and wrote a short poem about him.

 

Never Again...Always Forever

Never again... Will I see his beautiful, unique half-smile,

Will he kiss me gently on the forehead,

Will we talk and laugh together in the quietness of the evening.

Always forever... I will hold sweet,precious memories of him close to my heart,

He will be with me wherever I go,

We will be father and daughter.

 

 

 

I love and miss you DAD!!
I wish you were here RIGHT NOW.There have been so many times that I've wanted to talk to you ,to run to you, to have you hug me and kiss my forehead. I have memories and that's good.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I finally get the internet and have my scraproom all set up to create some cards and I can't get my printer to work now!!! GRRRRRRRR!!!!!! The colored ink is just about gone but the black is new.But it won't print black! It prints red and orange!!!! Do I NEED colored ink to print just black, though!?? I wanted to work on some DT cards, oh my, it's just not my day for many reasons.
